VARIETY is the all important spice of business life for Celia Lakin in her new role as Marketing and Business Development Manager for the Loughborough Building Society.

“Within a smaller business you can shape what happens and voice an opinion on the areas of your role where you believe you can make a difference,” says Celia, who joins the Society after senior positions with Alliance & Leicester plc.

“Over the past 15 years I’ve worked for larger financial service organisations, so have a broad range of skills I can apply within my new role.  My aim is to increase the Loughborough’s profile across the East Midlands, generate marketing that will be talked about that persuades more people to consider the Society for mortgages and savings.”

Celia adds: “The key advantage the Loughborough is superior customer service when compared with the larger banks.  It’s about knowing the customer, being able to help and guide them and be seen as a name synonymous with the communities where it has its branches.

“The Society offer a friendly and trusted face and our heritage allows members to trust us, as well as offering competitive products for local people.”

With two small children, Celia, 37, admits that life away from the office is equally active and she has recently reignited her passion for skiing.  “I haven’t managed to break a leg just yet,” she laughingly adds.
