FAQs

Our full range of simple straightforward savings accounts designed to help you make the most of your money.

  • Can I request a Certificate of Interest?

The interest on your account will be printed in your passbook in branch or this can be done by post.
However you can request a certificate of interest at any time by calling us on 01509 631960 or emailing [email protected] and we’ll post one to you.

  • What is a Personal Savings Allowance?

The introduction of a Personal Savings Allowance means that from 6 April 2016 not everyone will pay tax on their savings income.

The allowance is £1,000 for basic rate taxpayers and £500 for higher rate taxpayers (there is no allowance for additional rate taxpayers). Interest from ISAs doesn’t count towards your Personal Savings Allowance because it’s already tax-free. Interest is reported by us to HMRC in the tax year the interest is credited to your account. For example, on a 3 year fixed rate bond, interest is added annually to the account throughout the term, therefore interest will be reported each year it’s credited.
