Based in Loughborough, Rainbows provides specialist care and support to babies, children, and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions, as well as their families.
This partnership reflects our deep commitment to the local community and to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Here’s some of the different ways that we are supporting Rainbows:
Volunteering
Our team regularly volunteers at Rainbows’ retail operations, helping sort donations and prepare items for resale or recycling. Every task supports the hospice’s vital fundraising efforts.
Fundraising
From charity football matches to in-branch events, we’re always looking for creative ways to raise funds. In 2025, our joint efforts with other Leicestershire building societies raised over £1,750 at a single event!
Santa fun run
Each December, we’re proud to support one of Loughborough’s most beloved community events — the Santa Fun Run, hosted by Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People.
As long-term sponsors, we’re delighted to play a hands-on role each year. We supply the finisher’s medals and manage Santa costume distribution from our Loughborough High Street branch — helping hundreds of Santas get suited up for the big day!
Community savings accounts
We offer a Rainbows Community Saver account, where we donate 0.50% of the total balances annually (up to £10,000) directly to the hospice. It’s a simple way for our members to save while giving back.
Member voting
Each year, our members have the opportunity to vote at our AGM — and every vote cast means more money donated to Rainbows. It’s a powerful way for our members to have their say and support a cause that truly matters.
Everyday giving at our branches
Our commitment to Rainbows goes beyond big events — it’s part of our everyday operations. Across our branches, we host recycling bins where customers can donate unwanted items, helping raise funds through Rainbows’ retail network. We also have cuddly toys for sale at our branches, with all proceeds going directly to the hospice. These small, everyday actions offer our members a simple and meaningful way to support local children and families.
Awareness and advocacy
Through our newsletters, events, and social media, we help spread the word about Rainbows’ incredible work and the importance of community support.
Why Rainbows Matters
Rainbows must raise around £8.5 million each year, with only 12% coming from government funding. The rest relies on donations, grants, and community support. Their facilities include a hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, and spaces designed to help families create lasting memories together.
We’re honoured to stand beside Rainbows in their mission to bring comfort, care, and joy to families across the East Midlands.
