]]>Easter Egg Donations:
To spread some Easter cheer, our Head Office and branches collected over 60 Easter eggs and donated them to the Beaumanor Care Home in Loughborough and Bankwood Care Home in Derby, ensuring each resident received a treat over the holiday weekend.
Both care homes expressed heartfelt gratitude for our donations. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed!
The Great Society Bake Off
The Great Society Bake Off made a triumphant return for its second year, with our very own Paul Hollywood, aka Chief Executive Gary Brebner, judging the star bakes. We saw some fabulous entries, including the winning lemon curd cake that stole the show!
A big well done to all our bakers who dedicated their time and efforts to produce some fantastic cakes.
All sales proceeds from these cakes will be added to our collection pot for our Corporate Charity, Rainbows Hospice.
Easter Colouring In Competition
Our branches hosted an Easter colouring competition, inviting children to colour in Easter eggs. We received some egg-straordinary entries from talented participants, with the best entries all receiving an Easter egg as a prize.
Finally, our branches also hosted Easter-themed raffles, with proceeds going to Rainbows Hospice. Thank you to everyone who donated!

]]>We’re adding two new conditions. These relate to Authorised Push Payment (APP) Fraud and Confirmation of Payee (CoP). Both these elements of banking regulation are already in place.
The updated Savings Terms and Conditions can be found here.
With effect from 7 October 2024 new rules were introduced by the Payment Systems Regulator (PSR) to protect consumers who are subject to APP Fraud. These rules make it easier for eligible victims of APP fraud to claim a refund, by introducing mandatory reimbursement, and ensure that victims receive consistent levels of protection. We’ve included details related to your rights and eligibility.
Click here for further information on Authorised Push Payment (APP) Fraud.
We use Confirmation of Payee (CoP) to help protect against fraud and make sure payments go the right person and the details provided match the intended recipient. CoP checks whether the recipient’s name matches the account details. The changes highlight how CoP works.
Click here for further information on Confirmation of Payee.

]]>The post Loughborough Building Society celebrates commitment to Real Living Wage appeared first on The Loughborough Building Society.
]]>Our Living Wage commitment will see everyone working at the Society receive a minimum hourly wage of £12 in the UK, higher than the government minimum for over 21s, which currently stands at £11.44 per hour.
The Loughborough is based in the East Midlands, a region where over 15.7% of workers earn less than they need to get by, with over 299,000 jobs paying less than the real Living Wage. Despite this, the Society has committed to pay the real Living Wage and deliver a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work.
The real Living Wage is the only rate calculated according to the costs of living. It provides a voluntary benchmark for employers that wish to ensure their staff earn a wage they can live on, not just the government minimum. Since 2011 the Living Wage movement has delivered a pay rise to over 460,000 people and put £3 billion extra into the pockets of low paid workers.
Tina Patel, HR Manager, The Loughborough Building Society said; “We’re committed to valuing our employees and ensuring their contributions are fairly rewarded. Becoming a Living Wage accredited employer reflects our dedication to offering a wage that supports the real cost of living, helping our people thrive both personally and professionally. This decision aligns with our goal of being an ‘employer of choice’ and reinforces our commitment to the wellbeing and financial security of our people.”
Katherine Chapman, Director, Living Wage Foundation said: “We’re delighted that Loughborough Building Society has joined the movement of over 14,000 responsible employers across the UK who voluntarily commit to go further than the government minimum to make sure all their staff earn enough to live on.
“They join thousands of small businesses, as well as household names such as Burberry, Barclays, Everton Football Club and many more. These businesses recognise that paying the real Living Wage is the mark of a responsible employer and they, like The Loughborough, believe that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.”

]]>The FairLife Mark represents a new fair-trading initiative for the finance industry. It recognises companies that price honestly and trade fairly with their customers. This will ultimately help you choose what you need with confidence, by making products better and easier to understand. Revenue raised by the charity funds financial education in schools, giving children the knowledge they need to make good financial decisions throughout their lives.
Gary Brebner, CEO Loughborough Building Society says: “We’re proud to work with the FairLife Charity and to have been awarded the FairLife Mark for our mortgage and savings products. At The Loughborough, we’re committed to fair standards and the provision of products and services which enable our members to reach their financial objectives”.
Stuart Phillips of the FairLife Charity commented “There is a growing public appetite for a fairer society and leading firms are responding. Ethical behaviours are driving consumer purchasing and the FairLife Mark is a simple way for companies to highlight their commitment to fair standards.
The Mark highlights companies that put their customers first – following the spirit of the law not just the letter. We are thrilled to partner with Loughborough Building Society and that they’ll be displaying the FairLife Mark online and in branches.”
